As an intern at Blue Rock Insurance Services, Inc., you will learn about the business. You will work in a specific area. This could be claims, finance, sales/service, or underwriting. You will focus on building the skills needed for success by supporting professionals with their daily tasks. Additionally, you may participate in further training or project work. The internship program helps students from different backgrounds. It allows them to use the business skills they learned in school. They also gain valuable work experience.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the ability to accept, reject, or modify new and renewal business for all Property and Casualty lines. Seek guidance and direction from experienced underwriters or team leaders as needed. This approach ensures a profitable commercial book of business

  • Price business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines and ensures standards for timeliness are met

  • Develop ongoing relationships with both internal and external customers. Monitor the profitability and quality of submissions. Stay updated on underwriting and product changes

  • Review and becomes familiar with: Policy coverages, agency relationships, underwriting and team guidelines, processes, and procedures, company business strategy and organization

Requirements:

  • Analytical and decision making skills, basic to intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Demonstrated organization skills and ability

  • Effective interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate successfully

  • Willingness to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Additional requirements might apply
